International Maritime Policy advises on maritime matters in a global context through its associate experts and its links with major organisations in the maritime and aviation fields. International Maritime Policy is headed by John Astbury CBE the recently retired Chief Executive Officer of the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency (www.mcga.gov.uk) a worldwide maritime regulatory body and maritime emergency response organisation. Prior to this he was the UK Chief Coastguard and Director of Operations for 11 years. For over a decade John Astbury has been adviser to the Secretary of State for Transport, including the Deputy Prime Minister, on major maritime emergencies. He is an advisor to the Board of the RVL Group,(www.rvl-group.com ) aerial surveillance and counter pollution spraying organisation, Sky Perspectives Ltd (a UAV Company) and a strategic command advisor to Vector Command (www.VectorCommand.com) an international training and emergency planning/resilience consultancy. He is also an associate of BMT Isis Ltd. (www.bmt-isis.com) and BMT-Cordah (www.bmt-cordah.com) Recently, Intermaripolicy has developed links with Canada through www.hammurabi.ca and is working with Hammurabi to explore training opportunities in North America. Intermaripolicy also has training links with Lloyds Maritime Academy (www.informa.com ). John Astbury has recently been appointed as an international consultant for Lockheed Martin UK.
International Maritime Policy supports and has complementary links with such organisations to bring to our clients the depth and breadth of knowledge that is second to none. Recently, advice was given through IMO to the Egyptian Government on handling major maritime emergecnies. International Maritime Policy has also submitted a proposal in support of BMT-Cordah for a new JRCC in Qatar and we await the outcome following a presentation in Qatar to the Emirite Air Force.
