International Maritime Policy is headed by John Astbury CBE the recently retired Chief Executive Officer of the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency (www.mcga.gov.uk) a worldwide maritime regulatory body and maritime emergency response organisation. Prior to this he was the UK Chief Coastguard and Director of Operations for 11 years. For over a decade John Astbury has been adviser to the Secretary of State for Transport, including the Deputy Prime Minister, on major maritime emergencies. He is an advisor to the Board of the RVL Group,(www.rvl-group.com ) aerial surveillance and counter pollution spraying organisation, and a strategic command advisor to Vector Command (www.VectorCommand.com) an international training and emergency planning/resilience consultancy. He is also an associate of BMT Isis Ltd. (www.bmt-isis.com) and BMT-Cordah (www.bmt-cordah.com) Recently, Intermaripolicy has developed links with Canada through www.vmtechnology.ca and is working with Virtual Marine Technology.Inc to explore business opportunities in the UK and Europe. John is an adviser to the VMT Board. Intermaripolicy also provides training for IBC Global/Lloyds Maritime Academy (www.informa.com ) and Middlesex University for the Shipping & Logistics MBA and for corporate training workshops in Malaysia and Nigeria. Recently, advice was given through IMO to the Egyptian Government on handling major maritime emergecnies. International Maritime Policy has recently led a workshop in Malaysia for IKMAL - the Malaysian parallel organisation to the Nautical Institute under the aegis of the Malaysian Government and for Cares Ltd based in the Bonney Channel, Port Harcourt, Nigeria.
